There are three-different spectators, they each comment on your magic, read the description of each and decide who’s reaction you like the best, the 1st 2nd or 3rd spectator?

 1)         “When I turned over the card I screamed out loud, I shrieked in astonishment, just like the people you see on TV do. I have to say to you how amazing this it was, I just want to tell everyone how amazing it was. How do you do it?”

2)         “When I saw the card I was visibly amazed, the look on my face must have been priceless. I couldn’t imagine how you could do it but it was a fantastic sight to see as that card turned over, amazing. How do you do it?”

3)         “I was stunned, when I turned over the card I was shocked it felt like something amazing happened I was pacing up and down for ages amazing. How do you do it?”

So was it the 1st 2nd or 3rd description you like the best?

One description focuses on Visual words, one on Audio and one on feeling (or Kinaesthetic) words.

Look at them again.

Rapport gaining technique number 2 is about Speaking their own language.

When talking to people you will notice that they will use certain types of words these words reflect their inner world and if you use similar words you will minimise the perceived differences between yourself and them, and that will go a long way to enhancing rapport. As we have seen There are three categories of words that people use and in any given situation a person will tend to use more of one kind of word that another. The different types of words are: Visually based words, Audio and Kinaesthetic or feeling based words.

I don’t know how easily you can see what I’m talking about, maybe you can picture your self using this technique or maybe your saying to your self I need to have more information about this and when you do it will sound good to you. For other people when they have tried these techniques and succeeded with them, they know deep down that they are worth learning because it feels right.

Exercise: Listen out for the kind of sensory specific words that people use today. Every time you notice one feel good about learning more and when you start using this information if it works for you do it more, if it doesn’t you can practice with it or there are more I am going to give you tomorrow.
